Pan-Fried Onion Dip


This is great for parties.I hope you will enjoy this recipe. Great with chips or veggies!

Ingredients:

2 large yellow onions

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup mayonnaise, not light

Directions:

  1. Cut the onions in half and then slice them into 1/8-inch thick half-rounds.
  2. (You will have about 3 cups of onions.) Heat the butter and oil in a large saute pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the onions, cayenne, salt, and pepper and saute for 10 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 more minutes until the onions are browned and caramelized.
  5. Allow the onions to cool.
  6. Place the cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment and beat until smooth.
  7. Add the onions and mix well.
  8. Taste for seasonings.

Srawoffee Pancakes

So I was actually making some normal pancakes in the morning, into which I added coffee and a few other experiments for fun, but actually turned out pretty great!

Displaying IMG_20140416_155118.jpg      The Strawberry whipped cream was made by mixing a bit of strawberry puree with whipped cream. You may use strawberry juice or syrup. The cream and chocolate syrup make an awesomeliciously balanced combination!

The chocolate spiral grooves on the pancake were made when chocolate syrup was poured over the wet (uncooked) side of the batter while the pancake was cooking.

Ingredients:

(BATTER)

4 tbsp all-purpose flour-

1 tsp baking powder-

1/2 tbsp + 1 tsp sugar-

1/2 tsp vanilla essence-

1 egg-

1/2 cup + 1 tbsp milk-

A pinch of Coffee powder

Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup

(TOPPINGS: OPTIONAL)

Method:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, whip the egg and add the vanilla essence and milk.
  3. Now, slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry one, mixing well. Teh batter should not be too thin or too thick.
  4. Next, sprinkle the coffee powder over the batter, and mix until only a few marks of teh coffee are left.
  5. Heat a skillet or fry pan, and butter it. Now pour the batter into the pan.
  6. Only a few moments after you pour the batter into the pan, pour the chocolate syrup over the wet batter in spirals, and let it sink into the batter. When bubbles start forming on one side, or you feel like the other side is done, flip over. When the other side is done too, take off heat.
  7. Follow steps 5-6 for the rest of the batter too. Serve warm with toppings (optional).

Ingredients:

4-6 strawberries

1 banana

1 cup milk

ice cubes (optional)

Method:

  1. First, pour the milk into a blender.
  2. Slice the banana and if you want, the strawberries. Most recently, I have begun using strawberry puree ice cubes (home made), but both work perfectly.
  3. If you want an absolutely chilled drink, add ice cubes. Then, turn the blender on and voila! You’ve got your Strawberry-banana milkshake!

Amazing Chicken Tortilla Soup!. Photo by CountryLadyIt is very healthy.It is a little spicy so if u don’t have tolerance for spicy food,you may leave out the seeds of jalapeno.

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 medium jalapeno pepper, chopped
1/2 medium green pepper
4 small boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 cups frozen corn
1/2 cup dry white wine or 1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
4 (14 ounce) cans chicken broth
2 (14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauceTopping

1 cup non-fat tortilla chips (optional)

 

Directions: 1 Saute onion, garlic, jalapeño and green pepper with olive oil in a large pot until soft.
2 Add all the rest of the ingredients to the large pot and bring to a boil.
3 After about 15 minutes, remove the chicken breasts and shred.
4 (Two forks work well to pull the chicken apart!).
5 Return shredded chicken to the pot and simmer an additional 45 minutes.
6 Serve, topped with crushed tortilla chips if desired.

Crock Pot Lasagna

Ingredients:

1 lb lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, smashed
1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
12 ounces cottage cheese (we like 2%)
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese or 1/2 cup asiago cheese
12 ounces lasagna noodles, uncooked
16 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions: 1 Brown ground beef, onion and garlic in frypan.
2 Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt and oregano.
3 Cook long enough to get it warm.
4 Spoon a layer of meat sauce onto the bottom of the slow cooker.
5 Add a double layer of uncooked lasagna noodles (break to fit) and top with cheeses.
6 Repeat with sauce, noodles and cheeses until all are used up.
7 Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours.

Cold Fruity Yoghurt


This delicious recipe has been complied by Sarah Raza. Thank you, Sarah! It’s not only delicious, but also easy and quick; perfect for those last-minute desserts! This recipe can also be made without sugar and/or jelly, if you are aiming for low-sugar desserts.

Ingredients:
1 cup yogurt
1 whole apple, sliced
1 whole banana, sliced
Two whole pineapple round slices
1-2 scoops Ice-cream (whatever flavour)
Flavoured Jelly (optional)
Sugar (as much as needed; optional)
Method:
  1. Cut the pineapple into small pieces. Put fruits aside.
  2. Mix the ice-cream and yogurt in a blender, add sugar if necessary.
  3. Set the fruits in a tray, and pour the ice-cream yoghurt over them.
  4. Sprinkle Jelly pieces cut in squares over the yoghurt.
